April 17, we held a Photo Event at Descanso Gardens with the topic being Macro Photography. There were 11 people and a good time was had by all. Each person learned something new and the location offered a wide variety of subjects. More information about the event can be found on our event page:

Our next meeting will be May 9 and this will be an open judging night, so bring your creative selections. John Grusd will be presenting information about the June assignment, "5 Unique photos of one everyday object" and doing the judging. This is a great opportunity to get professional feedback on your work and see how others are capturing the light.
Upcoming Photo Event Explore 5 unique ways to photograph a common object. We will be meeting at O'Melvany Park in Granada Hills. Bring a few common objects with you on May 18 from 10 to noon. Bring whatever props, toys, lighting or other gizmos you want to use creatively. We will meet in the parking lot, just off Sesnon Blvd. and proceed to the picnic tables under the trees. This is a great opportunity to try different approaches and share with your peers.
Board Changes Carla Semola, who has participated on the board in many roles, is letting go of the secretary position. She did this important task for many years. Joy Hillman will be taking her place.
Gabe Nuñez has left the club to pursue other interests and Sharon Saga has agreed to join the board as a member at large.

A GREAT FRIEND AND A GREAT PHOTOGRAPHER
We are sad to learn that Gene Schwartz passed away in 2018 after battling esophageal cancer.
Gene was a dedicated F-Stops member and a great friend. His photography was without par. Landscape images created by Gene were notable for the powerful and highly detailed compositions and intense color blending that worked so excellently together. His love of exotic orchids was often reflected in his beautiful winning floral images.
Gene participated fully and regularly at club meetings, photoshoots and other activities and most importantly shared his extensive photographic knowledge and techniques with others. He was a great friend that we miss dearly.
