Meeting Location, Dates and Assignments

We have assigned topics each month as well as three additional open categories: (1) general color images; (2) general B&W;  and (3) digital art. Members (only) may submit up to four matted prints per month inclusive of the assignment and open categories. Download the 'Judges Guideline for Scoring' at the bottom of this page to see how to maximize a photograph's chances for a high score. The point system is from six to ten. A "ten" is as close to perfection as we can get in the eyes of the judge. A "six" is often an image that seems more like a snapshot or is unintentionally badly out of focus. All critiques are done in a constructive fashion designed to make us all better photographers. We have members at all levels from beginners to professionals.

NOTE: we are no longer at the Balboa Sports Center (as of January 2012)!

The Villages is at the corner of Corbin Ave and Prairie St. (between the major E/W streets of Plummer and Nordhoff). Parking has been provided in The Villages underground parking structure—DO NOT PARK IN THE LOT LOCATED ON CORBIN, THAT IS FOR VISITORS AND EMERGENCY VEHICLES. You enter off Prairie St (2nd driveway going east on Prairie). Turn in the driveway and follow the road around the backside of the facility until you see the parking entrance. You can park in any non-reserved parking space (most of these are against the walls). Take the elevator to the 1st floor. We meet in the Northridge Room, which is next to their Arts and Craft Room. There will be F/Stop members floating around to help you find your way.

 

TOPICS

Since the issue of what to do in some of these topics may not be obviously apparent, we will talk about what is expected at the preceding meeting or in the newsletters. All topics are doable in analog or digital format though it may take some head scratching to figure out how you are going to bring it off.
