In Person at The Village, Northridge (and on Zoom) 6:30 social, 7:00 pm program

We were thrilled to see so many of you at July’s first in-person fStops CC meeting. Having the opportunity to visit, socialize and participate in-person is the glue that has made our club so successful over the years. If you didn’t make it in July, we really hope you’ll feel comfortable in doing so next week.

We are honored to again have Dr. Lesley Krane to judge our August assignment, “Interiors.” As a reminder, entries are due no later than this next Monday at 8 pm. Here’s the link to upload your images. If you are going to present your images digitally only, use the standard filenames as you have for the last two years. If you are going to present your image(s) in print, add the word “PRINT” to the filename (i.e., 1251-2-PRINT). More information is on our website.

As a reminder, for those who are coming to the Village, kindly have your vaccination information available. A sign-in Covid form will be at the elevator lobby, which you’ll be asked to complete and bring with you into the Northridge Room. Also, a face mask will be required at all times indoors. Your health, and the health of all the residents at The Village, are a priority.

Upcoming Events
We are heading to the VENTURA COUNTY FAIR on Sunday, August 14th and meeting at noon. If you are interested in attending, please let Sharon Sega know at sjjsega@gmail.com.
You will need to buy a ticket, which you can do on-line at https://venturacountyfair.ticketspice.com/ventura-county-fair or you can buy a ticket at the event (pre-sale ticket costs: $9 for seniors / $13 for adults).

Also, we are pleased to announce a new ADDED event for this month: Terry Mendelson has put together an opportunity for members of our club to photograph over 50 VINTAGE RACE CARS. On Saturday, August 27th at 10:00 at Penta Motorsports in Moorpark. If you are interested in attending, please contact Terry via email here.

We’re Live, We’re In-Person, We’re Back!

July Meeting at The Village – July 14, 7:00 pm
Hi fStops Family, for the first time in nearly two-and-a-half years, we’re returning to in-person meetings starting this next week, July 14, at The Village: 9222 Corbin Ave, Northridge. Dr. Leslie Krane will once again judge for us this and next month. July is Open Assignment.

For Everyone’s Safety - ** Please Read **
For the protection of our members, as well as the residents of the Village, facemasks will be required at all times. You will also need to complete a brief Covid questionnaire (click here) to present when you arrive. Park downstairs and come up the elevator to the 1st floor. Look for our check-in table in the elevator lobby where we’ll give you a name badge in exchange for your completed questionnaire. The badge is your pass to join the meeting.

New – Two Categories: Print & Digital – Please Read
Since we’ll be in-person once again, and lots of fStops members love making prints, we’ll have two categories of entries: Print and Digital. This means we will award 1st, 2nd and 3rd places for each category. You will still need to submit your printed images via our website and include the work “PRINT” after your member ID so that we can send it to the judge in advance and also have it projected on-screen at the meeting. As before, prints should be 12” x 12” or larger, mounted and matted. (Visit this link to learn more about matting your images.) 

Door Prize
As a door prize, attending members will automatically be entered to win a complete studio kit, with light stands, backdrop stands, greenscreen backdrop (easy and cheap to buy others), and four or five continuous studio lights (CFL) with softboxes. It's a great first studio for stills or video and packs into two easy carrying cases. You must be present to win this.

If you are not able to attend the meeting in person, you can still watch it on Zoom. You will not be able to interact with the in-person attendees, but chat will be open and monitored in case you have a question or comment.

We are truly excited to return to almost-pre-Pandemic times. Things will be different, but we are still getting closer to the heart of our Club. Once again, members will be able to socialize with meet other members in-person and be a greater part of our photographic community. We look forward to seeing you Thursday, July 14 at The Village!

Our June meeting assignment is Foreground/Mid-ground/Background. Van Webster returns this month as our judge (bio below). The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. for schmoozing & socializing. Program & judging begins at 7 p.m. Don’t miss this meeting as we’ll be making an important and exciting announcement!

​Van Webster Bio: A video producer, director and writer, Van Webster is also a commercial and landscape photographer. He has co-instructed outdoor photography at the Wandering Outdoors Photography Workshops. He has a BA in Fine Arts from Claremont McKenna College and Masters Studies in Architecture at California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo. Van is a past member of the Audio Engineering Society, The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers, The Game Audio Network Guild, and The National Academy or Recording Arts and Sciences.
