MONTHLY MEETING & CRITIQUES
The goal of this critique is to help you learn and grow as a photographer. We’ll cover topics like lighting, composition, exposure, and more. Your photo will be analyzed to give you insights into what works well and what could be improved.
The primary objective of this critique is to facilitate your learning and development as a photographer. Through this process, you will gain insights into various aspects such as lighting, composition, exposure, and subject selection. Your photograph will be evaluated to provide you with constructive feedback on both its strengths and areas that require improvement.
Critiques are currently structured on a numerical scale ranging from 4 to 10. A score of 6 indicates a more casual snapshot, while a score of 10 signifies an exceptionally well-crafted image that approaches perfection.

What: Here’s what you can expect at our meetings: - We start with a warm welcome and a quick update on any new club news. - Our judges give a short presentation (usually around 15 minutes) that’s relevant to our current assignment. We do our best to schedule them, but it’s not always possible. - Members can submit photos for professional critique. We ask all judges to follow our Image Scoring guidelines. The judges award 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ribbons to the top 3 print images and top 3 digital images. These images will be featured in the website’s Assignment Gallery. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t get 10’s. Remember, art is subjective. When your work is critiqued, it’s coming from one photographer with their own judging style and preferences. |

Print Image Presentation Rules
Just a friendly reminder that for award ribbons, we’ll only be accepting photos that are matted or flush-mounted on foam board. If your photo is dirty or bent, it might hurt your chances of getting a high score. Let’s make sure to present our work in the best possible light! Framed photos are no longer allowed because they could damage the other photos waiting to be judged and the frame itself. But don’t worry, digital-only images are still a great option, and the judge will still give them a critique. Keep in mind, only printed images can win award ribbons. |
